From the delight of finishing a newly installed kitchen to seeing the smiles of our customers, our dedication at The Veteran Building Company has always been driven by an unwavering commitment to our craft. Today, we’re overjoyed to share the news that this commitment has been recognised. We’ve been shortlisted for the prestigious ‘Veterans Business of the Year Award’ at the Welsh Veterans Awards 2023.

It’s an honour to stand alongside other exceptional veteran-run businesses in Wales. The winners will be announced in Cardiff on Wednesday 5 July 2023, and we can’t wait to be there.

“We’re absolutely thrilled,” said our founder, Simon Hewitt. “From day one, we were set on creating a company that excelled in providing high-quality building, maintenance and refurbishment services, while offering rewarding work for veterans. To have our efforts recognised in this way is both humbling and incredibly satisfying.”

With the help of our talented team of veterans, we’ve not only met but exceeded our initial growth targets. This incredible group of individuals, whether refitting kitchens or working on intricate custom joinery projects, take real pride in their work, and this shines through in everything we do.

The ‘Veterans Business of the Year Award’ category, kindly sponsored by the Educ8 Training Group, recognises businesses that deliver exceptional service and display unwavering commitment to the veteran community.

“Our mission has always been clear,” Simon said. “We wanted to support veterans of our Armed Forces by offering skilled opportunities in South Wales and the West of England. Today, we have a fantastic team of multi-skilled tradesmen who consistently deliver excellence in all they do.”

While we eagerly await the announcement of the winners in July at the Welsh Veterans Awards 2023, we’re mindful of the shared sense of community that defines this event. The Veterans Awards celebrate a community that’s known for its resilience and innovation.

“We want to extend our congratulations to all the nominees,” Simon added. “Whether they’re in the Welsh, English, or Scottish Veterans Awards, we’re in good company. Each nominee is a shining example of the determination, resourcefulness, and creativity that are hallmarks of the veterans’ community.”

As the date for the Welsh Veterans Awards draws near, we would like to express our gratitude for this recognition. Regardless of the outcome, we remain committed to our mission: providing veterans with meaningful, rewarding opportunities in the building industry. We look forward to joining our fellow nominees in Cardiff, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for The Veteran Building Company.
